Priority access to the coronavirus vaccine - Email your MP

During the covid-19 outbreak, foster carers are continuing to fulfil their critical role looking after the children and young people in their care under additional pressure.

As part of the role, foster carers meet with social workers, health workers and other professionals. They also facilitate contact between children and their birth families, and are being encouraged to send the children they look after to school. Therefore, foster carers are often exposed to multiple households, putting themselves, their families and the children they care for at risk of contracting the virus.

Priority access to the coronavirus vaccine will help to retain and recruit vital foster carers, keeping them safe and recognising their essential role within the social care workforce.

Please write to your MP to ask them to contact the Minister for COVID Vaccine Deployment, Nadhim Zahawi, to urge him to include foster carers in priority group two for the vaccine roll out, alongside health and social care workers.

Emails are most impactful when they are personalised, so if you've been affected, please add details of your experience to the template email as your MP will be particularly interested in this. For instance, please tell them about other people you have had contact with as part of your fostering role.

If you aren't a foster carer yourself, please do edit the email to say that you support foster carers instead.

If you live in Scotland, please write to your MSPs here.
